Boris Yeltsin’s Recording Booth

During the decade of his presidency, Boris Yeltsin recorded hundreds of radio addresses to the nation on various social and political topics. The recording booth installation at the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Center in Yekaterinburg allows visitors to step into the president’s shoes and record one of Yeltsin’s speeches.

The recording booth is one of the most popular interactive installations in the museum.

An interactive panel allows visitors to choose a topic for their radio address, and then read from a scrolling text, similar to a TV prompter. After recording the speech, visitors can listen to their performance, rerecord it if they wish to improve it, and request that an audio file be sent to them via email.
